Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Hydraulic cranes are amongst the most frequently used types of crane in the construction business. They are used to construct everything from roadways and freeway overpasses to skyscrapers and buildings.
Cranes come in a wide variety of models, styles and sizes. These various models enable the operators and owners to perform many more functions in their business. Choosing the right type of crane is really vital for making sure that the material can be efficiently and safely transported to the place it needs to get to in order for the construction process to commence.
Truck Cranes
Usually, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are very helpful for building locations where a crane is needed in many different locations for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being driven easily from one place to another.
Cranes can also be transported to various construction locations on the road since they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
The truck crane however is not stable enough to handle all the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Therefore, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has huge tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are really similar to bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to successfully move around a construction locations.
