How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind when trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the best option for carrying jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, models that are older will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
