Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
Like what the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk alongside with the unit as they move loads. The Rider model on the other hand, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly fast and maneuverable.
It is not recommended to pick up and move unstable or tall loads since there are no safety cages on these models. A rider might be the right answer if you are searching for an inexpensive way of transporting loads from one place to another. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the best alternative.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specially designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles that could operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely useful pieces of machine during cycle counting situations as well as in physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
